Coarse pores

Treating coarse pores

Pores are small or large openings of sweat glands in the skin. They secrete both sebum (sebaceous glands) and moisture (sweat glands). Often these pores are found around the nose, forehead, chin and cheeks.

When the skin secretes a lot of sebum, the pores are wide open and can easily become clogged.

Dry skin has few pores, while combination skin shows many pores on the T Zone (forehead, nose and chin). We see the most coarse pores in oily skin.

Cause coarse pores

Coarse pores can be caused by several factors, including genetics. If coarse pores run in your family, you are more likely to develop them yourself. Other causes include polluted skin, excessive sebum and makeup residue that stretches pores.

In addition, the decrease in elasticity and collagen plays an important role. As we age, the skin loses collagen, leading to sagging pore walls and larger pores.

Heavy makeup can clog and irritate the skin, making pores appear larger. Smoking reduces oxygen supply to the skin, accelerating aging and making pores more visible. Sagging sweat glands also contribute to the dilation of pores.

Proper skin care is essential to reduce the appearance of coarse pores.

What you can do yourself

There are several steps you can take to reduce coarse pores and make your skin look brighter and healthier. Start by cleansing your skin every morning and evening with an appropriate cleanser and toner. This helps to remove dirt, excess sebum and makeup residue that can clog and stretch pores. Drinking at least 2 liters of water a day helps keep your skin hydrated, which is essential for maintaining elasticity and a healthy complexion.

Use retinoid products, as scientific research has shown that these ingredients have a positive impact on pore function and can improve skin texture. Quitting smoking is also an important step, as smoking ages the skin and increases the appearance of pores.

Sebum-absorbing products, such as clay masks, can help absorb excess sebum and keep pores clean. Finally, nutritional supplements rich in antioxidants and cell nourishing ingredients can contribute to the overall health of your skin and promote elasticity, which reduces the appearance of coarse pores. By following these steps, you can actively work toward smoother and more refined skin.
